Acid Dose & Alkalinity Neutralization Calculator

Safety Tips & Recommendations

  • This calculator is a reference tool; always verify pH on-site.
  • Adjust pH gradually in several steps.
  • Always add acid to water, never the opposite.
  • Wear gloves, goggles, and protective gear.

Example Calculation

Input data:

  • Acid: Nitric Acid (HNO₃)
  • Acid Concentration: 67%
  • Water volume: 1000 L
  • HCO₃: 180 mg/L
  • Current water pH: 8.1 → Target water pH: 5.5

Result:

To lower the water pH from 8.1 to 5.5 in a volume of 1000 liters, the required dose of acid is 160.77 mL of Nitric acid 67%.This acid also contributes 35.67 ppm of the nutrient N-NO3, which is equivalent to 0.0357 kg.
